Ultra-nano-crystalline diamond (UNCD) grids for transmission electron microscopy

Being elemental-pure and made of carbon, with low energy spectral EDS lines, UNCD grids allow interference-free spectral analyses of most atomic elements in TEM samples. Specialized UNCD grids with various mesh configurations are available. Grids with graphene membranes are also possible. Alcorix is presently working on diversifying the available configurations. Regular UNCD grids are made of free-standing, ~10-mm-thick UNCD, which can be handled with regular or vacuum tweezers. UNCD grids with a Si outer frame are also possible.
